It's Independence Day
One of the books I found for the kids is Don’t Know Much About the Presidents by Kenneth C. Davis. I’m always interested in how historians approach Bill Clinton and
“There is nothing wrong with
There’s so much I thought about trying to say today … politics … promise … the many gifts of living in this country … the despair I can feel when I take in the news … global citizenship … my curiosity about how we are perceived by the rest of the world. But my head kept coming back to a song.
I’ve read a lot about putting a soundtrack to my life and I found it this weekend, making the trek to Chicago I pulled out some CDs I hadn’t listened to in forever. Two of them were Garth Brooks’ concert in
Just an ordinary man
When I close my eyes I see
The way this world shall be
When we all walk hand in hand
When the last child cries for a crust of bread
When the last man dies for just words that he said
When there's shelter over the poorest head
We shall be free
When the last thing we notice is the color of skin
And the first thing we look for is the beauty within
When the skies and the oceans are clean again
Then we shall be free
We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, walk proud
'Cause we shall be free
When we're free to love anyone we choose
When this world's big enough for all different views
When we all can worship from our own kind of pew
Then we shall be free
We shall be free
We shall be free
Have a little faith
Hold out
'Cause we shall be free
And when money talks for the very last time
And nobody walks a step behind
When there's only one race and that's mankind
Then we shall be free
We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, walk proud, have a little faith, hold out
We shall be free
We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, have a little faith
We shall be free
The whole world will be free when those words ring in everybody's ears. Let's hope it's soon.
Wishing you and your family a Happy Fourth of July!

Lovely post!

we would all put those lyrics to use. If only.....the world were like this. If only....you get my drift! Love the idea of it! This is a great post.
I think if we had the origianl founders of our country still here helping to run it, the moral standards might not have taken the giant slump they seem to be in now!
I guess I'm coming in a little late on this one...chalk it up to my vacations too close together!
