Here goes nothing.
Like so many others, I have this creative part of me looking to be heard in an extremely noisy world. I have things I want to get done and pursuing conventional avenues accomplishes nothing. So here I come with ideas, causes, questions and the occasional children's story. You guessed it: I'm a middle-class, Midwestern mom (insert stereotypes here!). I refuse to call myself middle-aged until I reach 45 ... my ancestors have exhibited outstanding longevity.
Idea: Help restore New Orleans by supporting its businesses. (Watch for more in my next post.)
Cause: Kids. There are the truly needy: the hungry, the sick, the abused. But there are so many who need more attention and laughter and fewer activities and toys.
Question: What did Calvin say when, upon getting his crap out of his mother's basement, he found Hobbes in a box? (411: My user name comes from listening to one of my kids read a Watterson book for the first time: Calvin and Ho-Bess.)
Children's stories: I've written four, I think, so far, and am provided a mountain of ideas daily. Boo and Bunny are characters initially based on my oldest son, but as the stories progress they take on characteristics that make them an amalgam of all of my children. I'd like to think that one day Boo and Bunny will answer my question.
